Snowflakes steps

I see a few main problems when people make snowflakes: first, not enough folds. And second, not cutting enough paper off. Here are some basic steps:

1. fold diagonally and cut so you have a triangle
2. fold in half so you have a smaller triangle3. fold the same way again4. fold in half again, but from the center so it looks like this:5. make large geometric shaped cuts and a couple small ones, leaving as little paper as possibleta-da!

Okay...I'm glad you posted this. Because I used to be a pro at snowflakes and then I started getting some real wankers. So thanks!

Your snowflakes look awesome, but I have one suggestion on the paper folding that you may try. Try a fan fold with the paper. This makes your triangle segments closer to the same size. Folding in half over and over again creates larger triangles on the outside and small triangles on the inside, and this translates into your cuts as well. Your cuts will be closer to the same size and you will be able to make finer cuts that make your snowflakes look like lace.

I cannot describe this process without pictures, but its not hard to figure out. I will blog it on ours soon.
