When I was at the grocery store it was pouring rain (again) the cashier was commenting on the rain and the girl behind me said how she loves it, it smells so great. And she added it was because she is from Seattle. Being from Seattle also, I don't think that makes me like rain more, actually less. I get so tired of gray skies and blurry car windows. I don't like how the rain smells either. How often it rains is one of the few reasons I wouldn't like to live in the Seattle area. (it's the rain & the traffic, otherwise it's perfect) I enjoy rain in Utah because we don't get it here very often. Sometimes I feel like Seattleites feel obligated to stand up for the rain to say they like where they are from. I love Seattle. I don't love the rain. Anyone else with me on this?

Seattle & Rain

Bec, I have to agree with you. I'm not from Seattle, I grew up in Utah, and I used to love rainy or overcast days, just because we didn't get them that often. Now that I live in San Fransisco, I have to say I hate cloudy, cold, and rainy days. It depresses me. I miss Utah and the change of weather.
I like rain. But that's because I grew up in Texas.
yeah, so what if that doesn't make sense.
So I met a dumb blonde the other day. Georgia (and neighboring states) are in a severe drought. All over the region we are being asked to fast and pray for rain. I was in Tennessee this weekend and went to a birthday party. Someone said something about the drought and this sorority-ish girl said, "We are in a droUGHT?" (I try to type her voice going up at the end.) We stared at her and slowly said, "Yeeeess."
"But it rained yesterday."
Um...yes. And you ate lunch yesterday too but I'm guessing you want more food today. ...are you serious?!
I LOVE Seattle weather! Not too hot and not too cold. I grew up in Utah, but dont miss the 100 degree summers or the snowy winters.
Seattle isnt even in the top 10 in the U.S. in annual rainfall!

It is a handy misconception put out there to keep people from "Californicating" Washington! :)
Seattle seems like a REALLY cool place to live to me but I have to admit that the rain element makes me hesitate. But I just read the other day that the rain reputation is undeserved. The Southeast, where I am from really gets the most rain in the country.
I do love how mild Seattle is, never that hot, never that cold. And maybe it doesn't rain as much as other places, but it sure has a lot more cloudy days than all the other places I have lived.
