On Saturday when I was at Seagull book there was an author sitting next to me, Janeen Brady. She was there to sign her new book called The Creation. Depending on your age, you may or may not recognize who she is at first. For anyone who grew up listening to that classic red cassette tape entitled "I"m a Mormon", she wrote that. As well as all those Standing Tall tapes, about Happiness and Gratitude and Captain Dependable. Anyone else have fond memories of singing to that stuff as a kid? It was like I was meeting a celebrity. She also did the Safety Kid stuff. My childhood would not have been the same without her.

Just last weekend my siblings and I busted out singing the Safety Kids songs. We even had an aggressive verbal battle over who had the right to the tapes now that we've grown. Ronnie didn't seem to understand...he obviously didn't grow up with Safety Kids.
i totally remember safety kids! man oh man. good times
Oh. My. Goodness. I think I knew those audio tapes frontways and back.
I always enjoyed the I'm a VIP in my family!
I still get the Safety Kids songs stuck in my head every now and then. Oh! And remember Mr. Did and Mr. Didn't? And the little pig with the curly tail?
Aaaah the memories. Thanks for bringing me back, Becca.
"When I grow up, I want to be a Mother, and have a family . . ." Didn't she do that one too? You're so famous now. I've just got to own one of your books so I can tell people that I'm related to you - well, kind of! Cousins-in-law count, don't they? Congratulations on all your success!

I forgot about this stuff. I loved those tapes and can probably recite every word from the Safety Kids. I told Reid that they weren't made up songs. Thank you for helping me prove it!
I just want to find the song, "Hey everybody it's family night!"
How is it that my loving and thoughtful sister could experience such joy in meeting a true childhood celebrity and not share by calling someone that might want to be there too?
Oh my gosh... I still remember the Safety Kids song. We're the Safety Kids!
Awesome.
