the comment dilemma

I have so many mixed feelings about this comment number attached to each blog posted on Provo Platinum. I definitely appreciate the ease in which I can see if there is something exciting I should read about, or even more importantly, read additional comments about. But at the same time I am intimidated to write whatever random thing I want to. Now everyone knows before even opening my blog how pathetically few comments I have. I can't decide if I should:
A. use that as motivation to write more interesting and/ or controversial blogs
B. pretend like I don't know everyone is going to be looking at how many comments my blog has
C. join the army and stop blogging altogether
D. somehow learn computer programming and start my own blogging friends website (that could take years... or longer)
E. make as many comments on my own post as possible so that people think it is a really interesting blog

I definitely think E, it's the obvious choice.

I disagree, that would defeat the purpose of the comments, go with C for sure

do you think it's going to rain later today?

bec, that is totally you writing all those comments

no way, why would you think that?

Anonymous said...

just admit it.

don't you think 8 comments is enough?

bec said...

I think 9 is a good start

hey, how come provoplatinum isn't showing that you have any comments for this post? do you think bryant undermined your ingenious plan? i'll have a word with him.

Just for the record, the comment thing was never supposed to turn into any kind of rating system. It was really to so that you'd know ahead of time if you'd have to click on a post again because you'd know if there were more comments than the last time you looked at it. If you have any suggestions for improvements for that, though, I'm open to hear them.

And you're funny. And I vote against D. I like thinking that my page is special.

And about that, Provo Platinum updates on its own once every two hours, but you can make it update faster than that by clicking the "refresh now" link.

Seriously! This is the funnniest thing ever. I thought when I first saw the post, "Wow! 13 comments. Becca is so popular. I wish I could be more like Becca." What is it with comments anyway that they have the power to either make or break a post?

Everyone could just get one of these: http://co.mments.com/track

I think you should just leave it the way it is Bryant, it is nice to know if there are new comments you haven't read. I'll just go with a healthy combincation of A, B and E, but mostly B

Well, if you're going for the record amount of comments for a blog then count me in (literally).

me too!

I added your wedding blog and B-rad's to Provo Platinum (mostly because Brad commented on one of my blogs and made me feel good about myself).

be said...

Will that be weird the next time you post a thing to your wedding blog and people try and comment on it?

be said...

Maybe you should think about that.

I wonder if this comment-war thing is unhealthy for Provo Platinum....

Your the one perpetuating it, B.
