The White Elephant Gift

White elephant gifts can be challenging sometimes. This year we had a couple of really large white candles so I carved one into a white elephant for a party last week. I cut the wicks down as I went so really it could still be a functioning 3 wick candle. I think it turned out pretty well, everyone seemed to like that I brought an actual white elephant and it was fun to have an excuse to do some carving since I don't fit that into my schedule very frequently. This would be a good post to add a picture of what it looked like, but our digital camera has too many issues lately and I couldn't a picture on the internet. Sorry about that.

That sounds pretty upscale for a white elephant gift. I usually wrap some object on its way to goodwill.

becca you are so dang clever! and honestly there is no way in heck that i could carve anything looking remotely like an elephant...or any type of animal for that matter. i could probably carve a good looking baseball or pencil maybe. you've got talent girlfriend!

That sounds way better than the book about syphilis that I got at a White Elephant Gift party. Not to mention the fact that it had been checked out from a library and I had to return it.

yeah, the baby looks a little odd, but I like having a counter. Maybe I'll find a better one.
