Brandon and I have different opinions on having HD for our TV. I think it's nice, but not worth paying for. Brandon can't live without it. Once you've had it, you can't go back. He says it's like going from a car to a handcart.
Are standard definition TVs really that much cheaper? I mean when you calculate in the DeLoreon and cost of time-travel grade plutonium these days just so you can go back to the 90's and actually find a standard definition TV for sale and something to watch on it.
A 40" flatscreen HD TV is like $400 now. Why waste money on something that was obsolete five years ago and for which no new content is being made? Pay a little extra and do it right. This shouldn't even be a debate unless you're also willing to go from a computer to pen a paper for blogging.
Kevin saw this post and HAD to comment. He says if you watch sports you have to have HD. I agree that its cool especially for sports and I agree that once you get it you can't go back BUT if you never go there do you really know what your missing?!?!
Oh, sorry I misread that. Depending on what you watch you can get by with a boxee box and an internet connection. I haven't paid for TV in years. You can even get live sports over the net now, so it's cheaper in the long run to buy a dedicated box and hook it up to your TV.
We have the same conversation. I told Aaron it doesn't change what I'm watching, same content. My father overheard and was horrified and said...but Katy.. You're an artist!! You should KNOW the importance of image quality. Then sadly went back to watching the game. Which made me feel a little ashamed but not 1,000 dollars ashamed.
